Event: University of Surrey Year 12 Music Taster Day
|Title||University of Surrey Year 12 Music Taster Day|
This taster day will give you an insight into the University of Surrey’s diverse Music programme. The course is characterised by an emphasis on music of the recent past and present in all its diversity, from classical chamber and orchestral music through pop, rock and jazz to improvisation and multi-media performance. Our programme runs in three- and four-year formats, the latter including a placement year. During the day there will be an opportunity to hear from placement students about the benefits this can bring.
The day will consist of mini-lectures of around 30 minutes from Music staff and PhD students. We will give you a flavour of what and how you will study and introduce you to some of the cutting edge musical research being undertaken at Surrey. You will hear a lunchtime concert and get to mingle with staff and students over lunch.
We hope the day will enable you to learn more about music, about life at university and about what Surrey can offer you as an aspiring music professional.
Students should have an interest in music and be working towards one of the following:
- A-level Music
- BTEC Music
- Grade 8 ABRSM Music Theory
